A friend of mine that shoots VERY well with a $10k+ Perazzi once told me that the $500 O/U 20 gauge I bought for my daughter will hit targets just as well as his gun. The only real difference is in how many you will be able to shoot over a lifetime, year, month, or week. Shooting a couple hundred rounds a month mine will probably last as long as his will. However, he can probably get by shooting several thousand rounds a month and might still outlast mine with only a few minor replacement parts that typically wear out.
I think this is the one I bought for her. It seems to have gone up a little since I got it a year or two ago. Either that or I have misremembered how much I paid for it at my LGS.

C-dub,
Thanks for the recommendation. It looks like a nice gun, but the LOP would be just too much for me. I'm pretty short-armed and anything over about 13" is too long. Could buy it, have a gunsmith cut down the stock and put on another recoil pad, but that would add more than $100 to the price. Anyway, appreciate your help.

That’s cool. We’ve been happy with it. If your LOPis that short I would consider youth models if you haven’t already. There may be youth models for those ATI shotguns. My daughters LOP is long enough that she doesn’t need one of those.

I see that one is out of stock or no longer available. Oh well.
My point was that if you can find a youth model for anything you shouldn’t have to have anything cut down.

I picked up a compact Remington 1187 Sportsman in 20 gauge for my wife today at Walmart. It was on clearance for $250. You can't beat that price for a semi auto shotgun! Trying to get her to go shoot with me every once in a while, so this was perfect for our needs. Not as nice as my Beretta A300 though.
