I'd swear the exception language wasn't on the sign when I was there, but at 11 Pm after a very long day, it's certainly possible I just missed it. Wouldn't be the first time I inconvenienced myself by not paying attention to the details. :lol:

There are older signs just like this one out there. As I understand it, the law was changed a couple of years ago and some of the businesses have not replaced their signs with the new ones that contain the tiny exception language. We spent time in Chama and the single grocery store there has the old version of the sign on both front doors. In the booze isle, there are different signs that include the license exception. But you have to walk past the old signs to see them and I didn't do that armed the first time.
