SMU article today - Campus Carry

Colleges are places to learn, not die at the hands of attention-starved mass-murderers.

“But we have to consider the serious implications that come with allowing students to carry guns on campus. It is not exactly deer hunting,” said Castro, D-San Antonio, who is opposing the bill.
No, it is protecting yourself against an ARMED individual who wants to take your most basic right away. The right to life. Taking a Browning 7mm mag,for example, would be kind of cumbersome.
Minator Azemi, a senior government and political communication major at UT, said he would feel less safe knowing his peers might be carrying handguns.

“Students don’t need concealed handguns to defend themselves on campus if a university’s administration makes the safety and security of their students a top priority,” he said.
They aren't making it their top priority. That is why this bill is being considered. Here's that whole feel safe, rabbit's foot quote goes.
“While the intent of the proposed legislation is laudable, we believe passage of this legislation will have unintended consequences that cause greater risk to law enforcement and members of the university community.”
Just like on....um....what campus was it again? That's right. There haven't been any incidents.
College is an atmosphere full of emotional ups and downs, bad breakups, and a mass consumption of alcohol. This combination could be the recipe for disaster if handguns are added to the mix, Williams said.
Just like on that campus, over there, out of state, where that happened...Wassamatta U, I think it was?
