Are Obama related gun purchases just death throes?

Post by zatoman »

I used to worry that the lack of border security, the decline in a uniting common language, and the lack of a common culture would sink this Country. I don't worry so much anymore because the outcome is clear and irreversible, and because I am old and will soon be gone. The welfare state tower of Babel is here and growing. Even with the increased attention given to the 2nd Amendment over the past 8 years, I don't see how traditional Americans (i.e. Christian, English speaking, independent minded) can hold on much longer. Birth rates are clear, and will not change soon. Corporations are global and to them the American Century was a quaint time and they have no desire to revisit it.

I think we are fighting a rearguard action while the country is falling back.

It will be interesting to see if traditional Americans put up a fight, or just give up their arms, when America is finally melded into the Global order.

I will cling to my guns and religion until the blue helmeted UN troops fast rope from the black helicopters into my back yard. Then they'll march me to the FEMA camps where they turn us into Soylient Green.

I guess that is one vote that I am overly concerned. But to me the trend is obviously not on our side. I think the Country is unrecognizable (and not in a good way) to what it was in the '50s.

It's not elected people like obama who is the problem, it's the population that elected him, clinton, and all the rest of the socialists. There has to be a mindset change starting with pro constitution. When half of the country is ok with socialism, how do we turn it around?

No one is marching me anywhere. They may bury me, but they won't be marching me.

Sorry I couldn't resist. I am getting more interested in prepping and living off the grid...but I have to contend with work too.

The decline of this country has been planned and worked on for years.
Education has been replaced by indoctrination in many schools of so called higher learning for years now.
The dumbing down of America has been a successful program. We are seeing the results more and more with
younger people advocating socialism, even though they may not actually understand it.

No problem. Sadly, prepping for a catastrophe is easier than prepping for the US becoming a totalitarian state.

I don't know if it has been planned, probably not, but definitely no concern was shown by those in power (corporations, educators, politicians) of promoting the American character. That is tragic.

Nice first post Burt. I agree w/OP that it hasn't necessarily been "planned", but for sure the type of personality that is attracted-to and works in the public education system is not driven by the capitalist spirit.

Ironically, few of them seem to understand that they would not have those jobs except that many of us work hard in the private sector (and pay beaucoup in taxes)!

I understand where you are coming from zatoman, but I think the pendulum is swinging back. To hear the media and big government talk, the world is marching towards globalism and you are on the the wrong side of history if you resist, but I think it is all bluster. Since I have been following the convention of states movement, I have met so many like minded patriots that I am feeling much more positive about our nation's future.
The average person is tuned out and we have to get their eyes opened, but ultimately the fight for this nation will take place between a relatively small number of big government socialists and a small number of Constitutional patriots. The patriots will win I believe and we will return this nation to the shining beacon on the hill that it once was. The next decade will be a very defining one.
“While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader.” ― Samuel Adams

Same here. I grew up in the 50s, when many people didn't even have keys to their front doors; the milkman would come into your kitchen if you weren't home and put the milk and eggs in your refrigerator. Every elementary and middle school had 300 bicycles parked in front. Everything was closed on Sundays. Credit cards, answering machines, and cable TV were still science fiction. No red-blooded American boy would be caught dead without a good pocketknife, a bicycle, a dog and a baseball glove for Little League. The whole town shut down on the nights Billy Graham was on TV. Don't get me started........

Ruark,

Sorry ole chum, but those were great days, for some...

I too am a product of the fifties and while I miss some of the positives, I don't miss any of the negatives of which the list is quite long.

Mayberry RFD never really existed.

That about sums it up for me. I have had a good life, and I know where I'm going when I leave this one. Jesus can take me now, or take me later; I know he will take me some day. To live is Christ, to die is gain (Philippians 1:21). It's all good. So I'm not marching anywhere either unless it was already in my mind that that's where I wanted to be.

Mayberry existed for many. Me included. Doors never locked. Fishing and hunting whenever we wanted to. Our town had one cop who would let you get away with mischief as long as you weren't causing any real trouble. I tell people that my childhood was idyllic, and I also tell them that for my children, growing up in the highly regulated suburbs (near necessary employment centers) with zero tolerance brain-dead schools was not healthy.
