Hawaii

My brother-in-law and his wife are re -arranging life to move to Hawaii. They're both long time Michiganders.... He keeps telling me "Dude, once you visit, you will live here too".

Then I looked up their gun laws.

PASS.

No way I'd ever live there. God Bless Texas.

I've visited there several times while in The Navy. Nice place to visit. Expensive to visit and live there according to a family member, by marriage, that did for several years.

I lived there for two years while I was in the Navy. Nice place to visit, but wouldn't live there by choice. Going to the gun range is not fun, ammo is prohibitively expensive, gun registration required, no carry... NO THANKS!

Liberals have that place in a vice grip. Market forces are also extremely distorted. My friend tried to buy a blue pickup truck there he didn't like the price. Dealer was like, "Good luck going anywhere else we are the only one on the island with this truck in blue." Dealer was right.

No Chika-fila, no Whataburger, no Texas BBQ, or kolaches or breakfast tacos even.

You can have pineapples, sushi, and Pho. Shaved ice is pretty good I guess. Traffic during rush hour is just as bad as anywhere else. The lack of feeder roads will drive you mad.

I drove a circle around the island of Oahu in about 3 hours (was maybe 20 years ago).
Got immediately claustrophobic.

Gun control is like stopping drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to drive.

It's hard to believe how big the Spam sections are in the stores there. They probably sell more spam than pineapples.

Spam. That's a food from my past that I'd like to forget. Dad forced us to eat fried spam at least once a week.

I was born and raised there. Graduated High School there. Left to go to college in New Mexico, then joined the military.. went back exactly TWICE to visit family.. that's it.

No bleeping way would I try to move back there to live permanently.

Gun laws are just one small part of the reason.
