Germans More Interested in Self Defense

#1

Post by KLB »

Germany has issued nearly 600,000 basic weapons licenses, representing an increase of 130 percent since 2014, according to figures published on Friday by Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND), which supplies a number of German dailies with content. In 2014, only 261,332 licenses were in use.

With the license, Germans can carry gas pistols, flare guns and other weapons not intended for deadly use.

The rise has been partially attributed to a growing sense of public insecurity, most notably with an increase in terror attacks on European soil since 2015.

Sad that in that country one needs a government license to carry a non-lethal self defense tool.

Apparently in Germany a citizen's life is only worth defending if the government grants them special permission.

“More private weapons do not create more security,” said Irene Mihalic, a spokeswoman for Germany’s Green Party
Studies show more guns in the hands of law abiding citizens equal less crime.

Fewer private weapons create more authoritarianism. Honestly I think Germany has had more than enough authoritarianism. But apparently Irene has different ideas and is completely unsympathetic to German victims of crime. Is Irene hoping that only her political opponents will be arrested, abused, or murdered next time? Since the Green's are only 9-16% of the German vote, its hard to imagine how that would turn out well for her.

Hey don't knock it. At least the Germans allow for such thingss. In UK even non leathal self defence devices such as Mace are classified as offensive weapons and will earn you jail time - rape alarms are about the only thing allowed over there.

It is sad thinking about the life of the queen's "subjects".

I bet crime would drop dramatically if the HK93 was general issue, throw in some handguns for the ladies, and suddenly everybody starts behaving themselves!

HK93 was the lousy semi variant for the US civilian market in the 1980's. Now the select fire HK33 is what the Germans should really get. :biggrinjester:
