Bye Bye DISH

For DISH service, I was paying $180/month for like a decade. Finally, SlingTV came on the market with true legal competition to DISH Exclusive Arabic Channels.

The sales rep was almost begging to keep the service, even came to point of name your price!
Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Youtube and Apple TV and now SlingTV is dealing the same death to the Cable and SAT Services as mobile phone did for the landlines.

I'm starting to look around myself on cutting the cord. Tired of paying $185 a month for xfinity cable and internet, it's just crazy.

Pretty well cut the cord 2 years ago. We still have our roku box but they keep cutting content.
I think I'll be getting an invidia box soon.

We are definitely living in an age of disruption across a lot of different industries. Taxis are being replaced by Uber / Lyft. Landlines have already been replaced by mobile phones. Cable / Satellite providers being replaced, as you note. To a lesser extent, hotels being impacted by Air BnB and the like. And the big one, B&M retailers being replaced by Amazon, et al.

Exciting times. But not a great time to be an industry leader who is used to making hefty profit margins. That's for sure.

I cut the cord 6 years ago. I miss the DVR but EVERYTHING is on line now. Besides that, since we cut the cord, we watch A LOT LESS tv! Feels great!

Cable TV, internet and home phone for me was cheaper than having them all separate as they were before. Internet phone service is far better quality wise than ATT pots service was, which was always a static mess, especially after it rained. Cable quality is far better than Dish and rarely goes out not like DISH did when it rained. Amazon prime and NetFlix seem to play a larger role in our video than cable though.

We're waiting for the installation tech to upgrade our internet to 150/150 (Fios), then we'll be deleting our TV service for streaming.

Looking at Hulu and DirectTV Now for live TV.

I have direct tv and they are 180 a month, I don't watch much Tv, mostly it's all mindless drivel put for by socialist plastic people, the wife on the other hand watches it alot , i'm trying to find something that will make her happy and not cost much more than 65 a month!

I have Prime Video because I use Amazon Prime anyway, Hulu (commercial free option) and Netflix. Between those three I can pretty much always find something to watch.

Yeh, roku has gotten a bunch of people mad at them, I've been a loyal customer since the...roku2 first came out, I waited for the 2 because they said it would be so much better than the first one. I'm thinking about getting a firestick next time they go on sale. I'd love a metv or mitv or whatever they're called, but they are a bit pricy....the invidia is well out of our budget right now.
