Stabbing
On today’s date (08-09-18), at approximately 2:50am, officers with the New Braunfels Police Department and paramedics with the City of New Braunfels Fire Department were called to the Sage Apartments in the 2500 block of West San Antonio Street for a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived and discovered a 30-year old male from New Braunfels suffering from a serious stab wound to the abdomen being tended to by a 24-year old male neighbor who had caused the wound. The stabbing victim was immediately transported by ground EMS to the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) with non life-threatening injuries.
The initial investigation into the incident revealed that the two neighbors had been arguing when the disturbance escalated into violence. First, the stabbing victim had used a belt to strike the other male numerous times, causing several welts and contusions on the man’s head, back, and body. In order to defend himself, the other male produced a knife and stabbed the attacker in the abdomen. He then instructed a witness to call 911 and attempted to render aid to the stabbing victim until officers and paramedics could arrive.
At this time the incident remains under investigation and no arrests have been made; however, the investigation by the NBPD Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is ongoing, and charges may be pending against one or both of the individuals involved in the incident.

Re: Knife vs belt
It would seem that the belt was not a good tool to attack with -- it did not prevent escalation to deadly force, and may have a partial cause of it. Moral of the story... if you attack with a belt, be prepared to escalate. Alternate moral... don't use a belt to attack. Also, who starts whacking on their friend with a belt???
