TX: San Antonio Fogo de Chao kicks out cop, apologizes

#1

Post by ELB »

A manager at the Fogo de Chão in San Antonio told an off-duty SAPD officer in "soft uniform" (what is that?) with badge and duty sidearm to leave the restaurant because of a no-gun policy. According to the Facebook post linked in the article the officer was there for 30 minutes with his family celebrating a member's birthday when the manager decided to boot him, and told him it wouldn't matter if he was in full uniform.

Fogo has since issued an apology.
Fogo de Chao released a statement and said it has reached out to both the officer and the precinct.

"We sincerely apologize to the San Antonio Police Department and the officer in question for the incident that occurred at our restaurant. Unfortunately, a member of our team made the wrong call in San Antonio," the statement read. "We are working hard to address and correct this unfortunate lapse in judgment. We will address the policy internally and make sure our team members are clear. We support, respect and appreciate everything our law enforcement does to keep each and every one of us safe, day in and day out."

Fire first, train second is no way to run anything. I personally don't care if they go out of business over this.

It boggles my mind with all of these incidents happening that these companies haven't made it clear that cops are allowed to be armed in their establishments.

:iagree: It’s not like these incidents aren’t making the news. Like most things progressive, these people will push the limits until caught. Then they’ll apologize. After all, being proactive and training their employees first might offend some of the delicate snowflakes.

"Sorry, not sorry."

My business goes to EG Steak or Texas de Brazil, not Fogo de Chao.

I now understand Fargo de Chow has a no gun policy.

Didn’t know that.

I try and avoid gun free zones as they are dangerous.

Now that I know they are gun free, I will make my choice accordingly.

Nice that they apologized for their stupidity and liberal ness.

These "woke" companies are paying the piper. Value of Gillette was just written down $8 billion by Procter and Gamble. I can only hope Nike will suffer some day.

If every business would just welcome everyone legally carrying a weapon, these incidents with police officers would go away.

I think if I'd had been that officer I would have encouraged the manager to call the police, just to see what happened!

They are 30.07 posted. They are a chain and some are 06 and some are 07 and some are both. I bet the manager didn’t know the distinction.

And in counterpoint, De Wese:s Tip Top Cafe is offering a 30% discount until August 3rd for LEOs and LTC holders.

Yes, they say CHL in the article. I commented and the author acknowledged but it has been corr.

The place is almost 50 bucks a person. If I could afford to go there, I sure would not after they pulled that one.

When visiting Bexar county checking out the Alamo, river walk ect. My family and myself ate there and I wouldn't recommend the food. The main reason I remembered that particular restaurant was the Giant rat running around in the Bathroom.
