Not a threat to the public.

Detained.

Open carry legal in Missouri?

Probably the signs will go up soon.

"All we know is the fact that he walked in here heavily armed with body armor on in military fatigues and caused a great amount of panic inside the store.
OK, there was more than just somebody open carrying. He was there to create a disturbance.

Oh, and unlicensed open carry is legal unless prohibited by city ordinance, but licensed open carry can not be prohibited by the city.

That is just what we don't need right now. IMHO

Here's a little more detail:
**Off-duty firefighter stops man armed with 100 rounds of ammunition at Springfield, Mo Walmart**

The Springfield Police Department says they responded to a call of an active shooter at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Republic Rd., Thursday evening.

Officers arrived on scene within three minutes of the call. Police stated that a young white male, appearing to be in his twenties, pulled up to the Walmart, where he donned body armor and military fatigues. Police say the man had tactical weapons.

Police then say the man walked into the Walmart, where he grabbed a cart and began pushing it around the store. Police say the man was recording himself walking through the store via a cell phone.

The store manager at the Neighborhood Market pulled a fire alarm, urging people to escape the store.

Police say the man then made his way out an emergency exit where a firefighter held the man at gunpoint. At that moment Springfield Police arrived on scene and detained the man.

The Springfield Police Department confirmed that the man had loaded weapons, and over one hundred rounds of ammunition.

Police identified the man's vehicle and are investigating the possibility of more firearms inside the vehicle.

Probably just an idiot wanting to make a point. Which point, though, eludes me.

Drives up, dons tactical vest, guns up with 3+ magazines (>100 rounds), enters the Walmart, and starts VIDEO RECORDING HIMSELF walking around the store, scaring the poo out of everyone ..... just DAYS after someone else did the same thing at another Walmart and killed 22 people. Just what did he think was going to happen?

He’s developmentally disabled, and he’s harming the cause. Either that, or he’s a leftist trying to make some obscure point about guns in America, in which case he’s still developmentally disabled. And that’s being unfair to the developmentally disabled, who tend to be smarter than that.

I just assumed the firefighter had a concealed carry permit.

:iagree:

This guy, was looking for exactly the attention he received. Whether, to try to scare the general public, make a point about OC an AR, while dressed, like a weekend Rambo, or to show how easily someone could do harm, I don't know. But these are the very type of people, the left, point to, when discussing (not that discussion is a strong suit for the left) our RTKBA.
This jackwagon, only helps sway those on the fence, to support more restrictions. He is just looking for Facebook fame. :banghead:

So, I have to ask for conversation sake. You’re there, you see this jack wagon. What would you have done. Before you answer, think on it for a few minutes. Really dig and decide truly what you would have done.

Was he an immediate threat...
Was he just exercising his constitutional rights
You may only have minutes to act
Your family might have been there with you.

This guy was playing a dangerous game for sure. He may have been trying to prove a point, but with everyone on high alert, this could have ended much worse. You have an armed citizen who confronted him and held him until the police arrived. But what if that armed citizen wasn't so calm headed. What if that armed citizen said "nope not today" and just opened fire, fearing that there may be another mass shooting about to go down? I don't think anyone would blame the firefighter if he had opened fire, with all that has been going on. This man most likely was trying to prove some point, but this was not the way to do it. He was luck this time. The next person who tries this may not be so lucky.
