New User, been lurking for awhile, finally decided to register and make my first post.

Oct 15 -- Applied
Oct 19 -- LTC Class
Oct 21 -- Fingerprints
Oct 21 -- Uploaded Documents
Oct 21 -- Confirmation email received
Oct 22 - Nov 5 -- The status website shows the generic "Choose Service:..."
Nov 6 -- All blocks are green except for Background Check and Printing which are yellow.
Nov 8 -- Background check completed, LTC print pending
Nov 13 -- Mailed. All green.
Nov 16 -- Plastic in Hand!

I'm ex-military and had a top secret clearance back in the day, so I'm hoping DPS is just slow. My buddy recently got his LTC in September and the status website showed updates a few days after his confirmation email.

It's been about 20 (they started on it on 10/15 ) days from the time Austin said they started processing my application. The finger prints and background are still under review and are in yellow. What's strange to me is I see some saying they got theirs already yet sent it in after I did. I guess I'm just ready to be officially called a good guy by the state. As of the time im posting this, the Texas website is down for maintenance, I hope when it goes back live I see some good news.

Hey, I just joined and wanted to add my data for the guys coming after me.

Oct 17 — Class
Oct 21 — Application
Oct 21 — Fingerprints
Oct 21 — Documents Received
Oct 21 — Confirmation Email Received
Oct 21 - Nov 8 — The status website shows generic page
Nov 8 — All blocks are green except for Background Check and Printing
Nov 11 — Background Check
Nov 11 — Print Pending
Nov 14 — Mailed

My record is cleaner than Mr. Clean's head, so I had no issues what so ever(But IdentiGo did take an awful picture of me)

I have a Class A misdemeanor satisfied in 2007 but I figure I’ll be ok since I was granted the hazmat endorsement for my cdl, worked at the San Antonio airport and now a local school district. Just wish I had known to send in the court papers I have had for 10 years.....
Finally print pending 11-21

My Timeline:

9/15 - Applied
9/23 - Prints
10/27 - Class
10/28 – Uploaded cert.
10/29 - DPS confirmed receipt of cert.
11/18 - License in hand :coolgleamA:

My husband shares the same timeline, but has a background (nothing major or that would prevent the issuance of his license) and is still awaiting his license. DPS shows prints and background are still under review and that "Print pending completion of application review". That background check can really add some time to the application processing! Thank goodness I have always been an  ;-)

Hello everyone!

I haven’t been around since I obtained my CHL back in December 2015. It’s good to see that not much has changed. I had a question for anyone that knows (or has recently renewed.)

What’s the current timeline look like and/or what’s the process for a renewal? I submitted on 11/21. On 11/23, the site changed to only show “Apply to be an instructor” and hasn’t changed since.

My LTC expires on 5 January, 2020. Do I stand a chance of having plastic in hand by then with the holidays? I used to work for the DPS in a different department and the holidays are a bit of a “time off” season for state employees.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the replies!

I applied for my renewal on 11/21/19. I checked online 12/2/19 and everything was green except for background check. I checked again yesterday 12/4/2019 and my finger print section turned yellow along with the background check section.

I just logged in today 12/5/2019 and everything is green with an updated status of “Print Pending.”

Much faster process than the original application!

Renewal Timeline:
Submitted renewal application - 10/26
All Doc Received Confirmation email - 10/29
Online Status All Green, Card Printed - 12/12
44 Days to process but waiting for it in the mail

Current license doesn’t expire until April. Maybe they just put it in slower stack.

Hill wrote: Tue Jul 09, 2019 3:54 pm How long is the wait after “mailed”?

6 business days and waiting.
I'm waiting for 10 business days since "Mailed". Does anyone have a longer mailing time than me? I live in the DFW area.

Sorry just saw this. I am out in the panhandle where overnight mail still takes two days. But, I believe it was two or three days from “mailed” to receive. But, it looks like I was lucky because it was only eight business days from fingerprint to LTC in hand. I think the whole process for me was like fifteen days.

Any recent renewals, since the shut downs etc?
Curious to know wait times, just renewed 2/14.

Thanks
