France Heat deaths outnumber ALL US mass shootings in history

You are more likely to die of heat stroke in Europe than of a mass shooting in the USA. Some quotes below and link to the Not the Bee article and posts on X:


France has recorded over 7,300 excess deaths during heatwaves this year, with a record 52 days of hot spells since mid-June, according to AFP.

More people died in France this year from not having air conditioning (7,300) than American deaths from mass shootings in all of recorded U.S. history (1,741).

This means your chances of dying in America in a mass shooting are markedly lower than dying in Europe because your government won't let you own AC.

Kinda makes you happy to be here in the land of guns, cold air, and freedom, doesn't it?

I was in Paris while back when it was 95. It was miserable. There is no escaping it.

Buy a coke at a restaurant. No ice. I spent a lot of time selecting a hotel with AC in the information A well known name.

Arrived at hotel, buckets in lobby to catch condensation leaking through fancy ceiling. Not a good sign.

Got to room, room was warm, water dripping out of air grill in ceiling at entrance. Round thermostat where it normally is in US was turned to 65 degrees. But selector switch only had heat and air. No AC. They took roof air and pumped it down to the rooms, no refrigeration. Roof air was 95 degrees.

Normally mass of building is enough to keep it cool in summer, but it had been hot for several days.

Water and electricity are very expensive in France. Not sure but I assume no natural gas.

I can go on about taxes, health care, day care and the like but you can probably guess.

Lady Diana died there, so did Yasser Arifat. Not sure either would have died in the US.
