Big Cedar Lodge - Branson, MO

Post by Afff_667 »

Does anyone know if Big Cedar Lodge outside Branson, MO is posted prohibiting concealed handguns? I have gathered info for Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri concealed carry laws, so I should be good there. However, the Lodge's web site makes no mention of their status.

Thanks in advance.

Big Cedar Lodge is owned and operated by Bass Pro. I have never known Bass pro to post anything to prohibit concealed carry. They would also be 'shooting themselves in the foot' (pun intended ) if they prohibited someone from having firearms that were bought at Bass Pro from being brought back into the hotel.

In Missouri, is the sign must be 11x14 and specifically state concealed carry is prohibited. It is also not a crime to pass one of those signs, but if caught and asked to leave, if you refuse it is then criminal trespass with only a fine (no loss of license) for first offense.

I am from that state and travel back frequently. I have never seen even an attempt at a proper sign in Missouri at any retailer or public establishment. The music shows in Branson may be posted (not sure), and Silver Dollar City would be off limits, but they are pretty laid back in most of the state on firearms.

Let us know what you find out.

By statute?

I haven't been there in about 8 years, but I grew up going to SDC and Shepherd of the Hills every summer of my life from age 6 until I graduated college in '85. That's before anyone had heard of Branson, and the music shows consisted of the Baldknobbers and the Presley family, maybe a couple more.

We were just talking about getting up there next summer. We've got a 5 year old who would have a blast at SDC, and my wife will love SOTH.

Yes, amusment parks are prohibited by Missouri Revised Statute Section 571.107 (13), so SDC and Six Flags would be off limits even without a sign.

You can find the weapons statutes at http://www.moga.mo.gov/STATUTES/C571.HTM and the prohibited section here http://www.moga.mo.gov/statutes/C500-599/5710000107.HTM

I would not let the prohbition stop me from going. The park is a great place and has not had a history of issues as most gangs don't hang out in a country music theme park. Lots of family fun in Branson. :thumbs2:

Thanks for the info. I obviously forgot about the Bass Pro connection even though that's where I was when I got the idea to go to Big Cedar Lodge...duh. I'll report back if I experience any surprises.

As always, this web site and the folks who use it are great.
