For shipping firearms in state, I highly recommend Lone Star Overnight. They are a Texas based company, and they are significantly cheaper than UPS, FEDEX, or even USPS. Additionally, they don't make shipping firearms a pain like the other carriers. The only downside is that you have to call them to come pick it up and can't drop it off somewhere.

Yes. pistols too in-state.
Not correct. Handguns can be sold face to face, but if shipped, have to be shipped to a FFL, in or out of state, and have to be sent by common carrier. Long guns can be shipped to an individual in-state only and can be sent through the Postal No-Service.
I got my info straight from the ATF FAQ. You can ship door to door in-state only. I have done it several times, even with members of this board. You can not use USPS for handguns but can for rifles. You must folow the carrier rules which are quite silly and expensive but it can be done.
