G19 night sights?

I've been looking around at night sights for my Glock G19.

So far the best deal I have found was the trijicon night sights for $70 from cheaperthandirt.com


I heard if I ship in my G19 to Glock, they will install their factory night sights for $60?


I remember looking at the factory night sight model G19 at the store, and they had trijicon night sights on them....but someone else said it was some brand called metro...something(not sure).


can someone clarify this and recommend a decent night sight?

I personally like the Trijicon NS better than I do the Meprolight NS. The Mepro's are cheaper though. You may want to look at the XS Big Dot NS.

Glock will factory install both their own Glock brand night sights made by Meprolight, or Trijicon. They charge slightly more for the Trijicon sights. The only complaint I've seen with the Glock brand sights is that the front sight is staked on instead of being held on with a nut. That makes it more difficult to remove and re-install on a different gun in the future.

Looking to upgrade the signts on my G19 as well. The Big Dot seems to be the popular sight at the moment, but I'm not yet sold - there are a few videos on youtube demonstrating the sight and installation.

For three dot sight configurations, you should also look at Ameriglo operators and Truglo.

I'm leaning more towards a two dot or single front sight with black rear. For two dots you have Warren Tactical and Heinie straight eight design. One dot, the Ameriglo Hackathorn, model number GL-433. I really like this Hackathorn sight which is green tritium outlined by orange paint for daytime visibility.

Trijicon night sights is good. I think it's the most decent night sight price you can get with a decent glow in the drak. I have a set on my G-19. Good buy.

I put Trijicons on my 19.
Seems like they were $55 shipped, on sale.
Easy DIY install, if you have the right socket for the front sight.

My wife's G19 came from the factory with Trijicons installed. They work great. I had them on a USP Compact I used to own, and I currently have them on an M&P45 and an M&P340.

Love 'em.

I prefer a 2-dot system for night sights. The 3 dot system can be a problem when you are shooting in really low light (really dark). First off, the 2 dots at the rear are especially bright compared to the single dot on the front sight, and washes it out. Not so good. Secondly, you can find yourself in a position where you put the front sight to the right or left of the rear sights and it may not be immediately obvious. If you have a 2-dot or "straight 8" setup you put one dot on top of the other. Fast, simple and less prone to errors. I use a Warren Tactical set, which has the front dot slightly brighter than the rear dot. I did quite a bit of night shooting at a training class, and trust me, the 3 dot system is less than ideal. Don't go for cheap, go for good.

You should also consider a Crimson Trace laser. They make low light shooting much easier. But get good training with the laser. Main point is, either look at the laser dot, or your sights...not both. That throws people off, and is not the proper way to use the laser.

The green dot on the front sight is very easy to pick up. The red dots on the rear sight appear much dimmer, so they don't "get in the way" of fast acquisition but they're there if you need them.

But what is really quick and easy is my 1911 with CT laser. No question where I'm aiming when using the laser at night.

One thing to keep in mind with multicolored tritium sites is that the colors other than green degrade (lose luminosity) faster than the green ones over time.

Really? I had never heard that.

I know the luminosity is provided by the tritium gas. I assumed the different colors were produced by using a colored lens or tube. Is that not correct?

Edit: I think I found my answer. The color is produced by the phosphor coating inside the tube. Trijicon's website says the orange is only guaranteed for 5 years.
