An Alternative Solution?
If university policy isn't changed:
Since I can walk all over campus armed, except into a building, I propose that gun safes/lockers be provided outside each building, as well as private changing area dressing rooms, (concealed is concealed), so I can disarm without taking my gun back to my car (where police advise us not to keep any valuables because "Nothing can be done to prevent car burglaries, so don't leave valuables in your car")
Yet the police admit they can't stop burglaries of vehicles, and want you to leave your gun in your car, as it is more secure/safer than concealed in your pants.

A walk through the center of this campus after dark to see if lighting is adequate resulted in finding more than 35 outdoor lights burned out or not on because timers needed attention.
A communication breakdown in who is supposed to be checking lights may be to blame.
Tammy Kothe-Ramsey, Student Government Association president and psychology sophomore, and campus police representative Sgt. Robert Tomlinson walked throughout the campus Monday at about 6:45 p.m. in a survey requested by The Ranger.
This came a week after the shift to daylight-saving time and a few weeks after the college suffered a string of daylight assaults, which included robberies, thefts and assaults.
While walking past Lot 10, west of the visual arts center, a student approached Tomlinson and reported a man in a hooded jacket attempting to open car doors in the parking garage. Tomlinson called an officer to take her report.
Campus Parking Lots are currently an "all-you-can-eat buffet" where thieves are more likely to find
FREE GUNS, since licensees must store them there. (Compared to other parking lots)
If thieves can foresee that, so "Reasonable Persons" should be able to.
It is therefore foreseeable that the Universities are increasing the likelihood of a loss of property, and property damage, by their policies.
I assume Universities are taking adequate precautions
Also, I'd call the "Escort Service" to be escorted to my car, and even escorted from building to building, until things change. I'd hope they have the manpower to escort everyone, and watch every car too.
I can't understand why every campus police isn't FOR campus carry. If I were on a campus police dept, I'd rather interrupt a vehicular burglar with a stereo in his hand than the gun a CHL had to store there so he could go inside a building.

Officers for both the San Marcos and university police departments advise students to keep their possessions safe.
“Don’t keep property in your car,” Mobley said. “There’s nothing you can do to stop stereo (theft), but don’t leave 250 CD’s (in your car), don’t leave your wallet, your purse, credit cards, cash or jewelry.”
Then why force me to leave my gun there ??????
Ok, guns aren't "illegal" on campus now, except in certain areas like inside the buildings.
Which is more likely to fall into wrong hands?
1)The one concealed, that no one knows is there in a holster inside my pants while I'm sitting in my desk,
or
2)The one in my car I had to remove from my holster inside my pants, because it's illegal inside the building while I'm in class, they'd get while stealing my GPS, radar detector, stereo and gun?
By the way, "The one in a holster inside my pants while I sit at my desk" .. I mean I'm wearing the pants, with IWB holster on a reinforced belt, and my gun is concealed, just like it is when you are sitting next to me in a movie theater, restaurant, walking down the aisle at WalMart or HEB grocery shopping, or at ACL music fest with 65,000 other people, or any other place you go where people, including myself, go.
Why would it be more likely someone would reach in my pants in a classroom, than elsewhere?
If you have an uncontrollable desire to reach into my pants, please ask permission first.

Concealed handgun license holders carry handguns for personal protection, not so they can act like amateur one-man SWAT teams. And most police officers know this. The vice president of the Houston Police Officers Union, the largest police union in Texas, recently dismissed concerns about license holders adding to the confusion of an active shooter situation and announced that his organization supports campus carry.
Ever wonder why University parking lots are more likely to suffer from car break-ins than say a Wal-Mart?
At Walmart, movies, restaurants, even at ACL music fest, licensees can carry their guns in with them, but Colleges make their Parking lots a FREE BUFFET for gun thieves, since everyone must leave the gun in the car.
Car burglars know it is more likely to find a gun in a car at a college, than in a parking lot elsewhere, because the law, and University policies say so.
Currently, individual universities can permit concealed carry in classrooms, but no Texas campus does, so far, only Kindergarten - 12th grade schools allow Licensed Concealed Handguns (at Harold ISD) Therefore, University parking lots attract vehicle burglaries with the "free guns" policy.
