Mr. Daley, who will enjoy a lavish pension of $184,000 ...
The "lavish pension" is peanuts compared to the money he will make from other sources.

Does this actually surprise anyone? He deserves it. He is entitled to it. He is not a "commoner". He comes from a lineage of Chicago royalty.

He shouldn't be allowed to own a gun or have armed guards unless the rest of the citizens there are allowed to keep and bear arms and/or are provided with armed guards as well.

He'll probably get the bodyguards.

Maybe he could borrow a crew of out-of-work Teamsters from Hoffa.

The money from his retirement pension would stretch farther in Mexico where he could buy an even bigger house etc.

....where they have restrictive gun laws too so that the good mayor can feel safe.

No doubt, but the citizens shouldn't have to pay for them.
The citizens who he denied the right to self defense will spend their tax money to pay for his defense. That ain't right.

Mayor Daley on Thursday defended his request to continue using Chicago Police officers as bodyguards after he leaves office — a courtesy that former Mayor Jane Byrne never received and considers unnecessary.

I hope those bodyguards will be limiting themselves to magazines with 10 round or less capacity, because, after all, nobody needs more than 10 rounds for self-defense. If they're carrying "high capacity" magazines I guess we can only conclude they intend to murder people.
