First weekend carrying

Post by msandoval858 »

Like everyone else here, I was dying to finally get my plastic, obsessively checking the DPS site etc. Finally arrived this week (about 3 weeks total wait!) and unfortunately with the employee policies at my office, I had to wait till this weekend to break in my new holster :)

Although I didn't do the traditional Wally Walk (shame on me) I did manage to hit Sam's, Target, and Randall's... as well as Austin Gun Liquidators to drool over some STI's and pick up some ammo... although that one isn't really a challenge. I was a little bold and decided to really go for it and wore my Galco KingTuk at 5 o'clock position with only a tshirt for cover. Now I know what everyone means when they say they feel like the whole world is looking at them. After a bit, I got accustomed to it and no one seemed to take any notice whatsoever to the Kimber Custom CDP II I was toting around.

5" full size 1911 with only a tshirt... I think it was a success

Or..... nobody cared. Either way, it's good.

Congrats. The King Tuk is a great holster. I carry an SR9c every day with it, often with just shorts and a white t-shirt. You can definitely tell the gun is there if you're looking for it, but nobody passing by takes notice of it, and it's super comfortable. I recently took a road trip to Denver, and all told I believe I wore the gun for 20 hours straight the first day. Once you get used to it it's like your wallet, sometimes you gotta check to make sure it's still there!

In no time, you will feel out of sorts if you don't have it on. Congrats

If you do it properly it just becomes part of your normal wardrobe.
