CHL-16 availability

Post by bpnkrtn »

I found the "TEXAS CONCEALED HANDGUN LAW" publication on the DPS web site, listed as CHL-16. A couple questions please:

1) Is this publication available as a print document? Where, if it is ... I sort of assume the local DPS office, but we all know about assuming ...

2) Is this publication the basis of the "lecture" during a CHL class. I have read threads on this site that indicate that the written test is very easy. I am concerned about knowing more than the test requires I guess ...

Yes it is available from DPS for $5.00. You have to order it. It's easier to download and/or print it yourself. Not all the stuff taught in CHL classes are from CHL16 such as safe storage, concealment methods, what to do after you shoot someone, etc. A competent instructor will teach you way more than you'll need to pass the test so don't worry about not learning more than the test. I usually learn something or get it hammered home again each class I teach. :coolgleamA:

Huh?? Heaven forbid you should know too much! After all, it's only a lethal weapon...

(OH, and welcome to the forum, I guess...)
I ment I want/expect to know more, WANT TO KNOW MORE.

Admittedly I could have stated that more clearly. Your assumption is incorrect and mildly annoying.

You and yours take care ...

Gentlemen, thanks for the information. I'll be calling DPS here shortly for a copy, but do have the publication ready to print if I need to.

"Ignorant and naked" once again ... indeed
