I'm not really sure which one is a bigger jerk. The one guy walking around openly carrying with a friend along to record any incident they are hoping to get into or the other guy for bothering him.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

With no additional information whatsoever, this appears to me to be simply a somewhat typical interaction between a beer-bellied, Fu Manchu-mustached, tattooed, marginally employable union member and an educated, articulate, level-headed individual who is very well versed in his Constitutional rights.

Why do you assume that he was looking for a confrontation to record? Almost everyone these days walks around with a camera these day. It is called a smartphone.
If he was looking to "bait" someone, a cop for example, I would expect him to be recording well before the encounter and not star recording after he was confronted. JMHO

Re: A Different Open Carry Stop
The guy in the white shirt is aware that the state he allegedly has a CWP in is also an open carry state, yet he decides to go up to a visibly armed man and confront him? I guess he didn't get the same advice I did in my concealed carry class - "seeking out confrontation that may lead to the production of your firearm, even in self defense, may land you in jail or in the morgue".

Re: A Different Open Carry Stop
I really do not see the point of people walking around open carrying and waiting for confrontations. They do know they will be confronted and that is why they have video ready. All the videos I have seen show the people walking down a well traveled street, places where they know someone will see them (which I guess is the point). I am not sure what this accomplishes but they can do what they want as long as it does not bother me.

Re: A Different Open Carry Stop
Open carry guy- Is out trying to get the public more conditioned with seeing OC and yes has a camera to record interaction.
CC guy- Is afraid the OC guy will ruin his CC options by that type of behavior, by scaring the public against guns and carrying of any kind.
So is there a right or wrong here? Should CC people really be afraid of OC or should we support them in exercising their rights.

Or, OC guy loves attention, any attention...hoping all the while to appear to be a noble warrior for the 2nd amendment.
If he didn't have OC as his cause, he'd find something else to be an annoying, attention seeking doofus about.

That is exactly why some people have problems with OC. If you want to OC and can, do it. Running around with a video hoping for something like this is what I don't like.

If you have a cell phone, these days you have a video camera and if you are confronted by a person you had better record it for your own safety's. Gimme a break... It is not illegal to open carry in many states. A person who is open carrying is not baiting anyone, they are simply going about their day exercising their right to be armed.
If you don't like it.....if you think it is a bad tactical position......if you think it is stupid......ok....don't open carry. Don't bad mouth those that do.

Geez, modern smartphones are complete, portable recording studios. There have even been some indie movies that were shot, edited, compiled, and uploaded via the iPhone. It takes less than 5 seconds for me to pull my phone, activate the record function, and start recording (audio and/or video). And my phone has a passcode lock on it.

Re: A Different Open Carry Stop
If I lived in a open carry state and I am a concealed carry type of guy and I'm driving down the road and see a guy walking along minding his own business, I'm going to do the same, mind my own business. Now if I am traveling here in Texas and see a person walking down a street open carrying, I might be tempted to pick up the phone and have a officer dispatched to that location to see what that person may be up to. That's just me though.

Re: A Different Open Carry Stop
I agree, except the seeing OC in Texas. I just assume the person is law enforcement. Walked into an Applebee's rest room the other day and a guy was washing his hands with a Glock in a holster. I said hi and went about my business. Re: A Different Open Carry Stop
While I would very rarely open carry (realistically only in rural areas) if it were legal, I would like to have the freedom to do so. I think this guy's response was well played. When someone disagrees with us, it is usually going to be either misinformation (i.e., what you see today in the mass media), or misunderstanding. By saying things to the effect of, "I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm simply exercising my rights within the law..." We have now communicated our views while showing respect to the other (confronting) party as well as to the governmental restrictions (law) and/or freedom we have been given (Constitution). If he/she chooses to disrespect both of these, that's his choice. It makes him look like a fool in the process. I'm fine with that.
