Maybe it's because I'm looking at this on an iPhone, but the barrel on the AR looks like it's either fried or severely corroded. Maybe someone sitting at a computer can take a closer look.

To me it looks like it is wrapped in packing tape. But I can't tell even on my desktop enlarging the photo, the resolution is too low.
