I do Civil War reenacting (9th Texas out of the Dallas area) so I figure, with the rumblings of our Komrades in New York I'm already ahead of the curve since I own a muzzle-loading rifle. I can see that since those 30 round magazines are evil, their next step will be to outlaw all firearms capable of any auto-loading of ammunition. All you'll be allowed to own is a single-shot rifle, and after that - a muzzle loader.
They'll stop at nothing. When I was a child in the 1960s I remember my dad telling me the problems with labeling a small revolver as a "Saturday Night Special". Registration means confiscation. Now we're living it out.

What makes you think they'd allow us to own a muzzle loader if they could get away with banning them? From what I've read, in all those countries like the UK, France, Germany, etc, there are more illegal unregistered guns than there are "allowed" and registered guns. At this point in Connecticut, with the December 31 deadline approaching, virtually no one has registered their "assault rifle" (I think the number was something like 817 registered out of an estimated 700,0000).

There's a guy in Australia who posts on his website the plans for making various gun at home --including sub machine guns. Of course, the easiest gun to make at home is a shotgun. But on the positive side, just about all the worst gun ban countries still allow shotguns.

My comments were meant to illustrate how one of these days the antis will have taken away all of our 2A rights, except those that "pose no threat" to public safety or medical health, unless we fight for them. I guess my sarcasm button was in the "off" position on my post. Sorry.

But critics say the real problem is illegal handguns in the hands of criminals, not long guns owned by law-abiding citizens.

It sounds like a fun hobby but like people say it's all part of the slippery slope. If they try to ban semi-autos, that's an unmistakable go signal to use em or lose em. It's also time to break out the wooden shoes, if you get my drift.
