His mastery of spoken language wove a tapestry of pure, unadulterated contempt in the politest of terms.

He certainly lifted sarcasm to a lofty new level.

I'm not worthy........

The only shame here is that we didn't get to see pictures of the council's faces during and after that presentation. It might have been worth an admission charge.

Only a British accent can carry that off! :thumbs2:
If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

I just watched that in awe waiting for him to crack up, but he kept a straight face.

Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

I couldn't have done it with a straight face.

I think a Boston or Virginia accent would work quite well.

Of course getting up there dressed in redneck attire and expressing it so adroitly, succinctly, and with an angry straight face might even have been better.

I could, when one is angry enough, cracking a smile is the last thing that will happen, and I might have even challenged those in the council who were smiling to explain the reason they derided such a serious proposal.

The kitchen knife ban he talks about was proposed in 2005. It was for real.

"10 top chefs from around the UK were interviewed and stated that knives over 4" have little use in the kitchen."

How far is this going to go?

As far as it takes. As was posted on another thread recently.
We're after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you'd better get wise to it. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them...you create a nation of lawbreakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Rearden." (2.2.3.39)
