WTS Springfield Armory Lightweight Champion Loaded 45acp DFW

Post by HighVelocity »

Approximately 1k rounds fired, I carried it all last summer and it shows honest holster wear. All springs replaced with Ed Brown and Wilson Springs, Novak Night sights (factory and still bright), No internal lock, now has Smith & Alexander smooth MSH with lanyard ring and Colt internals, Chip McCormick ultralight trigger (black), 3 Novak 8rd mags that have been thoroughly tested with Winchester Ranger ammo in this gun and I have them marked for this gun only so they don't get mixed up with other mags, Wilson grip screws and Eagle double diamond walnut grips. Original take-off parts, Box and papers also included.

FTF in the DFW area $625. CHL holder gets a 4th mag free!

I would consider trade of S&W revolver in 38/357/45acp/45LC/10mm/44spec/44mag or 22lr. +/- cash as appropriate

I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

Wow. I wish I had the cash, because I'll be in DFW on Monday. That's one heckuva deal!

Do you want to trade for any C&R rifles? ;-)

I am interested in this weapon.

Being new to 1911's, I have some questions that are probably obvious to the old hands.

What is the trigger pull as currently configured?
Is this the 4" model?
Having read the omnipresent internet horror stories about every model, did you have any significant malfunctions with this weapon?

Is this weapon easily concealable? I ask this because if the other questions are answered, I will have to conceal it from my wife.

I live in Tyler so I am not far away.

Thanks,

Welcome to the Forum Nazrat. I am from Tyler. In beginning LE career I worked at the Smith County SO. Still have many friends there. Highvelocity is a great man. Whatever he tells you then you can take it to the bank. He is out of town, but he checks in often, so give him a little time.

Thanks for the welcome.

I have a few friends in the SO as I work for the AG's office and spend a lot of time at the courthouse.

I am just up late after dropping off the wife and kids at DFW today and waiting for them to call after landing. I just have to figure out how to sneak a new gun into the house, shoot it, and buy equipment for it before they return.

Do you know Charley Baker, or Bobby Gorman? I just spoke to them a few weeks ago on a murder they had in Indian Creek. My dad hired Bobby he was a young man. We have been friends for over 25 years. By the way if I can help you get this .45 from HV I will be glad to. I don't believe he would mind. He is a great man and I know you would be happy with it. I could pick it up and get it to you if that helps if you decide you want it. My email is . .. pastor@fbcirving.com

Thanks,
Good morning,

The model is no longer offered by Springfield (model # PX9242L), the trigger pull is 4.3 lbs according to my digital trigger pull gauge, it is a 4", the frame is made of a lightweight alluminum alloy. The parkerized finish is original, hence the holster wear and I have had no major malfunctions.
The only time this gun has ever malfunctioned was when I got some reloads from a gun show that were not crimped properly. It has eaten every factory round that I can find without any trouble.

As mentioned in my original post, I carried this pistol all last summer and am confident in it's reliability.

As far as concealing it from your wife goes, you're on your own there.

Thanks for the quick response and the welcome by the many members of the forum in both this thread and via PM.

At this point, based upon the recommendations of the forum members, I have to either buy this pistol or name you the godfather of my children. ;-)

With all due respect to the forum members, I will settle for buying the pistol.

I look forward to making arrangements for the final sale. My CHL is currently pending and I have been lurking in the waiting room for more than 30 days now.

I will attempt to access the forum from work today once I relearn my schedule for the next week or so. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the great state of Texas is not denying employee access to dangerous websites such as this one. If work access is a no go, I will only be checking in morning and evenings until the moment that I can fondle/function check the new weapon.

carlson1,

Unfortunately, I do not know the personnel you named. I am much more familiar with the deputies who have served as baliffs and/or transport. Sgt. Sangster, Blaylock, Adams, Hunter, Jack are all familiar faces. (Having little sleep, I am sure that I am leaving off many fine members of the Smith County SO with whom I am acquainted.)

I am very appreciative of the SO as the Tyler courthouse shooting happened on my case. Long story there.

Thanks again for the warm welcomes.

As everyone predicted, the weapon was exactly as described. High Velocity was great to deal with.

There is one problem, though. There is no way to conceal this weapon. My wife is going to see it as I am constantly drawing it to drool over it.

Actually, I am amazed at how well a 1911 in an IWB can be pulled against the body for concealment. You hear all of the stories but it was stunning to see this thing disappear under an untucked knit shirt. Now to find a VMII to give the tucking option and really see it vanish.

Thanks, HV, for a great transaction and for being patient with a rookie.

It was good to meet you and I thank you for purchasing my pistol. I hope that it gives you years of pleasure.

FYI, if you're wife shoots it, you may have to start shopping for another one.
