Garland Range update

#1

Post by 1s1k52 »

For those who live around or visit the Garland outdoor range, they informed me in less than 3 weeks rifle calibers will be open again. Thought I would share.

Any safety improvements? What is the status of civil lawsuit by the one who was shot from a stray bullet?

I couldn't tell you. I called to find out and the guy over the phone just said lawyer has to sign off but the suit is done. I heard of a few cases involving incidents. It never effected me because during this duration I had my

I heard a snipped on the nightly news that the range owner was found "liable" for the stray-shot that hit the home owner like 1-mile away down the range.

Any info?

No I haven't heard anything. A friend went there the other day and it was business as usual from what he told me. When I went there long ago I couldnt see anything wrong with their back stops etc. Someone had to really screw up IF what the people claim really happened.

The range is still open. Anyone know if this is still up in the air?

I beleive it has been settled. The only thing they show not allowing is any FMJ as well as no .50 Barrett or BMG semi-auto rifles. http://www.eaglepeakshootingrange.com/gpsr/rules.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I was there yesterday. FMJ is still not allowed. We fired our 3-4 ARs.

There were a couple guys shooting a couple of '55 M1 Garands. That was an incredible report.

Thanks for the update. Do you know if FMJ is only tied to rifles?

FMJ for rifles only. Pistols can fire ball.

Looks like the same rules as the Eagle Peak Range north of Austin. No hardball applies to rifles only.

K... probably a stupid question here but... What's the difference between hardball and FMJ? I thought they were the same...
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

Eagle Peak adn Garland are same company.

Technically ball is FMJ. The proper thing to say here is the range will not allow FMJ rifle ammo, but ball (FMJ) pistol ammo is allowed. The main difference is they don't want armor piercing rounds or FMJ due to it tearing up the berm from the higher velocity of the rifle. Pistol rounds are much lower velocity and don't cause as much issue.
