My understanding is that they can't prevent, deny, or bother someone with a CHL (or maybe without) from carrying in their vehicle to and from class (or just driving through?).

What about on the grounds outside of facilities? Don't the grounds have to be in active use during a school function before they come off limits? Aka - bunch of kids out having class in the recess area - would become a no-carry zone. But the same area without children using the area it would be ok?

I'm also troubled by the writer stating that the 'state laws offer leniency to guns left in cars'. That implies a wrong doing that is overlooked, not a right we have.

Also, allowing state universities to opt out would seem to make the whole thing a moot point.

I think I recall recently TTU had put up 30.06 signs at various street entrances to the school grounds, but last I looked those had been removed.

They can prevent a student from carrying on campus, but not in the locked vehicle. They also cannot post 30.06 signs and try to enforce them.

That's correct. If you read the info at the link in my post above it specifies only those licensed to carry a concealed handgun.

which is also kinda backwards IMO. I would think that if a chl can't carry why would you still be able to under mpa?

Not sure what you are saying. You must be a CHL to leave it locked in the car. MPA does not apply.
