Cornyn Introduces Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

Bearing Arms.com wrote:Texas Senator John Cornyn has announced the “Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act” today, a bill that will establish the same sort of “common sense” acceptanace of concealed carry permits that everyone in the country currently enjoys for driver’s licenses.

It would be utterly absurd to think that a drive from New York to Florida would require you to go through the process of driver’s education, a driving test, and obtaining a driver’s license for New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, but that is exactly the problem currently face by concealed carriers in the United States today.

Call me pessimistic, but if it came from Cornyn, one has to wonder if he's already checked and he knows the bill is dead before it was introduced. That way he gets to keep pretending he's a conservative.

Why does the federal government need to poke their noses into a state rights issue?

If Cruz had filed it, which he didn't, you would be singing his praises.

Second Amendment rights have been incorporated and apply to the states. This bill serves to expand Second Amendment rights throughout the country.

Should the federal government require states to recognize our drivers license issued by our state of residence when we are traveling?

Anyone have a link for the text of this Bill?
My Google-Fu is tired tonight.

If ILA is supporting it, I'm hard pressed to understand why anyone would rush to dismiss it.

It is cross state issue. I would like to get my CHL recognized anywhere in US, I mean by all states and DC too.

I know you didn't quote me, but since I also constantly sing Cruz's praises I feel I can reply to this.

no, I wouldn't.

Cornyn is a RINO IMHO and I don't like him. If Cruz had filed it I probably would be singing his praises. I have no problem with the bill just the man behind it. I voted for Cornyn with a clothes pin on my nose!
