Yes, Lightning, the dates are accurate. The status might even have changed earlier because I had not checked on it for several days, but it was on or about the 9th. I completed my application on line. I understand the DPS prescreens online applications before they send out the packet. Maybe the online applications are processsed more quickly for whatever reason.

Time will tell. I'm sure that's one reason the folks who do apply online do so. I also did the online app and the span between the USPS reporting delivery of the completed packet to the DPS website updating to "Processing Application" was 23 days.

I decided to email DPS today, and I received the "waiting on the background check" response. So far, I can only assume that they have been waiting on my background check for 52 days. Somehow, that just doesn't make a lot of sense.
I'm really considering applying for an out of state license in Florida and see which one shows up first.

txtfp, we are on the same timeline, I sent my packet on 2/6 and they received on 2/8....
Anyone have odds on who gets theirs first?

I'm betting whoever's birthday is the closest is the one that wins the prize. My application landed in Austin 17-FEB-2008 and my plastic is in route! May birthday is next month. Most you ask will say it has nothing to do with it, but I disagree. It's the only thing that makes sense for the long wait when you know your back ground and such is with out a flaw. Think about it.

Ok so sent mine on feb 4th they recieved on the 8th. My birthday is in Jan......... So I should get mine after you two?

Are folks thinking they are sorting the applications by birth date. Then they go through each pile by month?

After 15 long weeks finally my status changed to certificate active. Now just waiting on the mailman

I'm out of luck then, with a December b-day. Maybe I'll get mine by Thanksgiving.
