I recently picked up this hobby and I love it. Start slow, go to a craft store and buy a packet of leather remnants. cost you less than 10.00 Look for large thick spices and soft large pieces. Order or buy a few packets of Chicago screws. Then research the the kind of holster you like. Buy 1 or 2 and try to duplicate. Through this process you will find what works and what doesn't. I have made 4. the first was a disaster and the other three were progressively better. Made an IWB for my ruger p94-- large gun-- not really a comfortable carry.. and made a boot holster and an OWB for my Kahr cw40. Next project is a xbreed dup, the real one is getting a lot of wear. anyway, If i knew how to post pics I would. Things you need: Chicago screws, quick fasteners, rubber cement, leather scraps, and a whole lot of patience. It is fun and rewarding. give it a shot.

well I finally made a photo box and finished some more holsters , one is for a full size 1911 and other is a bersa 380 both in mahogany with white stitching as you can see , hope you guys and gals enjoy

I gotta brag. My youngest (age 22) came in from college the other night and wanted to make a holster for his XSE Commander. I got him to make a design and tool it in one of my holster front flaps (a junk front flap at that), and then finished the holster after he left to head back to school. It's a tree;



It was sort of cheating with me making the under holster.....experimenting with dyes to make a reptile skin effect. Anyway, I was a proud Papa. I thought it was a fine first effort at leather tooling.

This is for my boot,IWB, and vehicle.. Simple yet functional. I am going to keep at it till the product improved, next up is something for my wife's Glock 19..

As long as it holds the gun, and you are happy with it, then its a good holster.

best thing about a concealed holster is no one HAS to see it.

Its just like everything in life, the more you do it(or more you make in this case) the better you get. To be honest that is actually my 3rd holster, but my first succesful one, so I count it as the first. Im currently making one for my 1911 I just got. Takin the extra time to make it look good cause its going to be an OWB.

I've done some leather work over the years, but I would like to make something that looks like a large cell phone holder and use it for my LCR. Can I get by with carring out in the open like that? The gun would be well hidden. What do you guys think? Maybe tool in " My Cell Phone".
