Well finally I have more than the post office's conformation that they received it. I know patience is a virtue, but when then post office says they got it there and DPS say's they are waiting on it, it's kind of maddening.

DPS normally will not update that they received it, for at least 2 weeks, even after they have actually picked it up from the Post Office.

Congrats! The latest timeline appears to be ranging from 30 to 45 days.

So status updates:
STILL waiting on BG check. Going on 45 Day mark. Wife's still does not even show up on the website, same mailing and recieved dates as mine.

It's nice to see a group of supportive folks that were, or are in the same boat.
Just check out my timeline. I have seen people who just took the class on the 17th of July get through background and manufacturing before me. So i am really upset about my status. I guess they are going to make me wait the whole 60 days!

I went through pretty much the exact same procedure for my armed security commission a few years ago (50 rounds, background check, prints, passport photos).
I wonder if the faster BGC completions have to do with a more quick verifiable history than just lazy/slow DPS/Federal workers. For me it was 7 days between prints done to BGC done.

We do FBI background checks for my work regularly. You must submit Finerprints with these checks. So....extrapolating from that, if your FP are not done, they probably have not even started your BG check.
