Hey everybody. Last night I posted my status above. Today, I had some free time and thought, "what the hay, I have nothing to lose by checking it again."
14 March - Back ground check complete.
Found my way out of BG check limbo sooner than I had expected. Hope to the get the CHL in the mail by next week.

* I got a copy of the L1 background check and it was completely blank

That wasn't too bad at all. But then again I've never been arrested and I have an 03 C&R FFL so they should know my background is clear.

Now just waiting for UPS to deliver my holster.

FWIW, I called the DPS today and got an updated status in a bit more detail than what is posted online. The nice guy on the other end of the line told me that the BG was completed without any issues, they're just waiting on a tech to give the entire application a once-over and ensure that all the paperwork is done correctly. This is apparently the last step in the process before it goes to printing. Unfortunately, this step isn't on the online status page. The gentleman told me that it would be updating online any day now, but to give them another call if it hadn't updated in a week.
So, moral of the story - even though it seems like the BG check is taking an inordinately long amount of time, it might be that the BG is actually done already and it's just waiting on that final paperwork approval, like mine currently is. Fear not, they're working on them as fast as they can :)

My poor fingerprints are still under reivew. I'm really starting to think my application has been thrown to the bottom of the pile. I've never seen anyone's fingerprints take that long to update. I called again earlier this week and they said my fingerprints have been approved by DPS and FBI, but a differnt tech the week before said it looked weird and I had two sets of prints in the system.
Only two more weeks and I'm out of time!?

I emailed and asked if there was a quality problem with the prints and the answer was basically just wait longer...

Thanks RttlTrap, no I hadn't seen that, but yes that's exactly what they told me! I've called once a week for the past 3 weeks and everyone that looks at it says, oh yeah that looks strange, wait another 2 weeks. Meanwhile, my buddies from the same class have plastic in hand.

As aggravating as it is, we are nowhere near the wait time they've had in the past. Your best recourse would be through your state rep's office but not for a while yet.

Mailed all checklist items March 1, online status and pending BG check since April 2. Hopefully, everything is complete and the online status is just lagging...

Finger Prints good but I am still waiting on background check. Also my application has an ! by it. I am noticing most people have got their plastic by now.

Ok all, I know exactly how the wait is and not having plastic in hand. However this is my first renew and they received my packet 3/24 and its now 3 solid weeks and no online update. Good thing is that I completed all of my stuff before my lic expired. I still think the status should be updated a lot sooner. Good luck to the other waiters.

I haven't heard of that before, in this case, calling may be justified, but they could say that "we sent you a letter, please respond once you receive it" or something as well

Mine still has the "!" inside a yellow triangle next to the "application" part of the status. Don't worry about it. I'm not sure why the application keeps that symbol beside it, but that symbol turns to a green check mark when everything is cleared, (i.e. background, fingerprints, etc.) I received my card last week and my status still has that yellow "!" next to it.
