Only took mine 19 days from the time I got my usps return receipt (1/7) till they updated docs received (1/25). They might be running a little slower now though.

He's right! Hang in there
Mine took fourteen days. You'll be there before you know it. You're in the worst part of it. Once the background is done everything else goes fast.

Haha, I know I know. It is just so hard. I feel like a kid at Christmas! Problem is though I changed addresses while my package was in bg review. AND I forgot to list a previous address. Soooo I sent an email to DPS with the correct addresses and time lines. So ill probably be delayed. My fault I know but arg!

Almost didn't check the website today since it's Sunday and seldom is anything updated on a weekend, especially with the government, but I did and am glad I did.
Yesterday I had the "Online application received; waiting on materials" status and now it's been updated to "materials received, background check underway."
So far my renewal process hasn't been too shabby.

I've been lurking while waiting on my CHL. Here's my timeline.
Package Mailed: 1/2/2013
Background Check Under Review: 1/23/2013
Background Check Complete: 2/1/2013
CHL Mailed: 2/5/2013
Still waiting and hoping it arrives today. I had my CHL years back when it was first enacted in Texas, but I let it expire for several years. Happy to have it back!

If you have a "previous legal situation" on your background or you indicated any arrest, dismissed or not, it automatically get's assigned to a specialized agents queue, this adds essentially 3 weeks. Not much you can do about it except wait it out. This information was provided directly from DPS staff when detailing the process to me personally. If you have nothing listed on your application and nothing get's flagged during the electronic BG check at the time the "data entry clerks" enter your application and scan your picture/signature. It moves through the process right away, my understanding is that nobody even looks at it past that.
To substantiate the above:
Mailed 01/04
Pending BG 01/24
Pending manufacturing 02/10

Plastic in hand, and a vow to never allow it to expire again! :)
Looks like it takes between 5-7 days to receive your license once status changes to Mailed.

That's about right, mine took 16 days in BG review and I had a lengthy background. Darn teenage years!!!

Looks like we are right there together. I mailed 1-17, background under review 2-6. So the race is on...
