I will never shop there for ammunition again. I was allowed to walk unaccompanied through the store to the checkout, then I was asked for Id (presumably to check for my DOB. Then I was asked to sign for the ammunition! Last time I bought some shotgun slug there (admittedly a couple of months ago) I didn't have to show or sign anything.

Is this a new 'rule'? If it is....I don't like it, not one little bit. :nono: :mad5
you should have signed - Curtis E. Flush

What next? Fingerprints? ;-)

Sign for ammo???? That's the silliest thing I've ever heard of! I would have refused, not paid for it and gone some place else.

I was too stunned. I bought it and swore never to return, Wally World at least doesn't ask for your inside leg measurement when you buy ammo.

No more Sports Authority for me, no wonder they have ammo! To me they may as well post a 30.06 cos I won't buy from them again.

No kidding Kevin! :txflag: That's gotta be company policy, as I've NEVER signed for any ammo in my entire lifetime. They must be headquartered up north somewhere or out in Kalifornia....I think they have to do that over there.

Who would have thunk it... Kalifornia was already over the deep edge... barring you from WILLING your firearms to someone just shows how nuts they really are.

That bill was just signed by the Governator. It will go into effect in 2011.

Date and time of sighting: Monday, 10/19/09 @ 810 PM.
Site: Wal-Mart, FM3040/Hebron Parkway, Lewisville (near Vista Ridge Mall), Denton County.

.357, .38, .380, .45 - None.

9mm - Federal brand, 50 rounds each. A large quantity is available since the
clerk broke open a new case for me. $9.47 per box.

.40 - Federal brand, 50 rounds each. There were 16 boxes in sight. They might
have had more in a fresh case. $12.97 each, IIRC.

Anyone who's going to Friendswood on 10/24/09: I have 4 boxes, 50 rounds each,
of .40 Federal. I bought it for a friend with an XD40 so we could go to the range,
but it's never happened. $12.47 each + tax = $53.87.

Went by a gun store in San Antonio that I had not visited previously. They had WWB .45 100 rnds for sale. When I asked the price, nearly choked (or nearly burst out laughing--I couldn't decide which!). The price, you ask? About $75. Are you kidding me??? I'll stick with Wally World for about half that.

Actually, there was a federal requirement, possibly part of GCA 1968, that ended in 1986, that required all handgun ammo purchases to be logged into a bound book similar to that used for firearms.

Purchaser info was definitely recorded. Can't recall for sure whether signature was required.

The Wal-Mart in Spring @ Kuykendahl and FM2920 has Federal .40S&W FMJ 50ct. boxes overflowing into the space of the other non-existent calibers. They have had at least 15-20 boxes just about every day for the last three weeks. I have gladly helped reduce their overstock situation (14 boxes), but the keep reproducing.
Two boxes are roughly the same price as the 100ct WWB. They had about eight 50ct. boxes of the Federal 9mm yesterday, but I doubt they are still there today.

I hope this is a problem that keeps on getting bigger. Maybe we can get back to the good old days of 8 dollar per 50 wwb. :anamatedbanana

I've seen more ammo in the last couple of weeks since last summer, including some range .380, but like you said, we need the pricing to go back to pre-election.
