I was one of the few, very few Chiefs of Police who were infavor of the CHL back in the 80s. Went to Austin and told a few committees at the Capital why it was a good idea. I talked with Ma Richards in August before the elections in November and told her that she would be defeated by George Bush for Governor, because of her pocket veto of the CHL Bill. She stated that her "advisors" had told her that the majority of citizens in Texas did not want blood in the streets. She sent me a nice letter afterwards saying that she should not have listened to her advisors about Guns and Texans.
During these visits to Austin, I talked with my Senator, Teel Bivins. He stated that he was against allowing citizens in Texas to carry .45 Mags under the front seats of their cars, blood would run in the streets. After mailouts by the TSRA and NRA, he had received several hundred calls and letters in favor of it and only one against it, from the Panhandle's Big City Chief. Soon Senator Bivins was not only in favor of CHL Legislation, but a Co-Sponsor. It was an intresting time.
I know you posted this ages ago... but seriously, you're my hero!

Hey y'all!
I'm new to the forum, but been reading for a bit. Just got my CHL and have a Bersa Thunder, but not sure yet how to carry.
Thanks for all the good info here.

Well Hi there Sybil! I'm new to the forum too. I entertain people on the radio.
So what kind of entertainment do you do with a Bersa Thunder?
I hope its nothing like what Sharon Gene does after a good pot of Pork and Beans for dinner!

You are such a mess!
Sybil, welcome. I also have a Bersa Thunder. It's a good little gun. I recently took a visitor from England to the range, and the Bersa was his favorite.
If you're looking for a good way to carry it, Comp Tac
http://www.comp-tac.com/ has some really good holsters if you're into kydex. I wear the shirt tucker nearly everyday. If you're into leather, Milt Sparks, Galco, Tucker, El Paso Saddlery all make good ones.
Longtooth has a list of holster-makers. If you asked him, he might be so inclined to share.
This is a good forum. We don't always agree, but we're usually agreeable.

Mr. Mercer, I think that is a bit rude, but I am gonna just ignore it for now.
Venus, I think I will check out some of the leather you mentioned. I am much more into that than kydex. BTW, I like your screen name. One of my co-workers uses a similar name. Thanks for the advice!

sybil, I hope you'll excuse Roy D--he's harmless.

Well, you won't get rid of me that easy.
I got that high-speed internet (and this new thing called cable TV) thing piped into my doghouse I had to build for such emergencies as Sharon Gene dictates.
I even got a refrigerator and a hot plate in there for extended stays.

Well, I am really sorry you had to endure that.
Just don't send your dry cleaning to that place where the judge lost his pants. I can't afford no 54 million dollars.
Oh, here's a smilie thing:
