The 60 day starts once everything is received. Mine took 5 weeks to update to received (5/15) and BG review. The back log in early April was about 5-6 weeks just to get logged into the system. I do not believe DPS was ever set up to handle 12-15K applications per month. We have many many concerned citizens who didn't feel the need to get a CHL in the past, but now, with this administration, and the way it has been perceived, I believe there was a rush to get it.

Maybe Charles or others could offer their opinion on the actual "start" date.

When I spoke to DPS last week, I was told that I should be getting my CHL soon, because I was coming up soon on my 60 days from April 10, which is when they "received" all my documents. I mailed the docs in on April 3. The website first listed "under review" around mid-May or so.

Still wondering why I and others are still under review while people who mailed their documents in 30 or so days after me already got their CHL.

4/12/13 - Submitted online application
4/20/13 - CHL class taken
4/20/13 - Fast Fingerprinting done during class
4/24/13 - Required documents scanned and submitted online
5/22/13 - First showed up on DPS website - Fingerprints and BG under review (checked daily)
6/02/13 - Manufacturing pending

Well, I am at 60 days since DPS received my packet and still in Background under review. My wife submitted at the same time and has the same status.

2/23/13 CHL Class
2/25/13 Online Application completed
3/8/13 1st Fingerprint Appointment - system down
4/1/13 2nd Fingerprint Appointment - Success
4/1/13 Mailed Packet by Certified Mail
4/4/13 DPS picked up packet from Post Office
5/9/13 DPS Website Status Update -- Background Check: Under Review

DPS has had it for 60 days, has been showing Background Check: Under Review for 25 days.

The waiting continues....

I spoke with a lady at the DPS this morning in regards to my application (who offered no help at all), which has been in BG check for just over 2 weeks now. She told me that my application still has 2.5 - 3 weeks left until it's "due" Looking a calendar, that would put their 60 day time period around when they would have physically received my packet in the mail, NOT when it first updated on the DPS site.

No Joy in my mailbox today - but I did get some goodies from KelTec for my P3AT - not a totally bad mail day.. Hoping for tomorrow!

Today marks 60 days for me since all my materials were delivered to the DPS. Still waiting and hoping ... ...

Mar 01 - Fingerprints done.
Mar 29 - CHL class completed.
Mar 30 - All required docs mailed.
Apr 02 - Required docs delivered per USPS.
May 08 - Status updated to received, BG pending.
May 29 - Fingerprints & BG completed, updated to Manufacturing Pending.
May 30 - Updated to mailed.
Jun 03 - Plastic received.

So... 62 days total. Not bad really.

Just now came across this site, guess I'm in the waiting room too, figuring I'd be lucky to see mine by end of June since I mailed in the docs 5/6, but probably going to be early to mid July.

4/10/13 - Electronic Fingerprinting
4/27/13 - CHL
5/6/13 - Mailed everything regular USPS mail
6/3/13 - Just now checking status for first time since mailing - currently shows waiting BG check, all other items above are green.

Infidex, you have a lot of self control not checking the status for so long!

Not sure how some of you guys skipped right to 'mailed'. Guessing mine will be sometime next week.

Wow ... Happy to see someone else getting his CHL. But inexplicable why I and some others who sent in their paperwork in early April are still "under review."

Today is Day #61 since USPS delivered all the materials to the DPS.

My official status is still "Background Check Under Review," which means my unofficial status is still as follows:
