Sorry my fault.
The national media got Zimmerman arrested even though to me, he clearly met the requirements of self defense under Florida's stand your ground law. Now that that story was cold, they were clearly trying to do the same thing with the man who defended his daughter and ended up killing the BG. Apparently from the post above by The Annoyed Man, Fox News is still trying to get him hanged. Today they announced the BG has a Latin surname. They also said his body was found with his pants at his ankles.
To me, Zimmerman got arrested because of the news media and activists, not that he committed a crime.
He and his wife may now have committed crimes from perjury to money laundering. It will be like the Valerie Plame story or Martha Stewart insider trading story, the original charge is dismissed, but people still go to jail.

What is the record number of pages for any thread? Will this one break the previous record?

I don't think we will ever know for sure who assaulted who.
You're correct, we don't know. And until someone proves beyond a reasonable doubt that he
did break a law, he's innocent. That's the way
our system is supposed to work.
There, I fixed it for you. Reasonable doubt and innocent until proven guilty only apply when there isn't a political agenda involved. The Duke lacross case was a fine example of where it didn't work because of a political agenda. Fortunately, that initial injustice was later reconciled. I'm not so sure a similar result is going to happen with this case.
You are correct, and I almost went back and edited it myself. If that really
was the way our system worked, Zimmerman would not be behind bars right now.
That is what people should be incensed about - that the rabble rousers and their "I wanna get re-elected" follwers have polluted the system. If the laws are bad (and I don't happen to think they are), change the laws -
but don't persecute/prosecute someone who acted within the law.
And we know that how?
I'll keep repeating. We don't know, but until someone can prove beyond a reasonable doubt, we are supposed to presume he acted within the law.

This little side-foray talking about the accused father is not commentary on that particular case. Rather, it is commentary on the way the media report cases involving guns and/or self defense resulting in the death of an attacker. That is not only not peripheral to the Zimmerman/Martin affair, it is central to it. It is central exactly because the media are in the pockets of those who do not like the 2nd Amendment. Consequently it is nearly impossible to get a clear picture of what went on in the Zimmerman case.
So it actually is relevant to this thread.

BINGO! EXACTLY! THANK YOU!
That is what I am so spun up about over this: the way the MEDIA have already "prosecuted" the GZ/TM case, and reached THEIR "verdict". Anyone, any individual, should be free to have their opinion about what did or did not occur, or what should or should not have happened, etc. But the so-called "free press" is more the "bought press" and it is THEY who have controlled the narrative from the day this story was introduced to us. If it wasn't for this media frenzy (which they seem to be trying to introduce a bit of into the molester thing here in Texas), we would simply have had a normal CHL forum discussion about this, not something that has built such animosity toward each other...the press must be just so please with themselves on this one.

Heartland, I agree with you about the media, but I have absolutely no animosity toward anyone on this forum and really hope that others feel the same way.
