Yup, I carry SOB at about 4-5 o'clock position. My husband is the south paw of the family.

I thought that looked familiar.I have an aluminium frame 9X18 Hungarian made Makarov.It has a heck of a kick to it but its an accurate little firearm. My hubby and his friends say that my 'bra conceal' gun...b/c I could stick it in my bra and if a guy was looking at my chest he wouldnt notice the gun.

Nope.I'm right hand dominate and just carry my holster a bit different.The holster can be used as a left side draw IWB,but I just scoot it over to SOB at about the 4-5o'clock position.

yeah, but if it's inside the waistband, even small of back, you're going to draw the gun, cross it across your body as you draw.
a Right handed holster, IWB, should slide around to Right hand SOB carry.
that's all I'm saying.
you don't want to cross your own body with the line of fire when you draw, could lead to a bad situation.

Cool,thanks for the input.I'll keep that in mind for my next holster.I'm still new to the CHL scene so I'm just trying to learn as I go.

coolio. I had this misconception as well, when I went to buy my first CC holster. the salesman explained this to me, "Ya wouldn't wanna shoot yer kidneys out, wouldja?"

Nobody needs to worry about "shooting a kidney out".

A "proper" draw from small of back simply requires that you point the muzzle toward the ground as soon as it clears the holster...then trace the contour of your body before making presentation. Same basic thing with a shoulder rig (especially weak hand draws). Same thing with weak hand draws from appendix....etc, etc,

Actually, I can think of no mode of carry that has you "covered" more... than strong side IWB, but you never hear anyone express concern about that.

I haven't looked to much into holsters just yet. I haven't even taken my class yet so I have a bit of time to do some research. There is a lot of good reviews here on this forums that I have seen. I have seen the c-tac and it looks nice as do a few others. Might even just do something simple like the one in casselthief's pic above.

I'm also going to look for a nice shoulder rig that has a retention strap for the times I'm going to ride my sport bike.I know everyone says that retention straps are bad but I don't want to feel something hit my leg and realize a quarter mile up the road what it was.Also don't wanna to have to worry about the wind blowing my jacket up and exposing it to everyone.

But to sum up there probably wont be just one holster that I would use all the time.

Making a change in my primary carry! While I like my S&W .40 cal. pistol, I’ve always been an old 1911 dog at heart. There’s just something about the venerable .45ACP that a shooter has to love.

Likewise, I’ve come to really love Mrs. M’s Springfield Armory XD-9. It’s just so comfortable in the hand, and shoots so well.

So why not get the best of both? My new Springfield Armory XD-45 has arrived! Delivered with hard case, (3) 13-rd. magazines, XD Gear holster and magazine carrier, lock and other accessories, the total package at a local gun store came to $500 plus tax. The dealer threw in some practice ammo at no charge.





I’m not much impressed with the supplied XD Gear holster, it simply doesn’t carry close enough to the body for effective concealed carry. I’ll pick up a Fobus paddle holster tomorrow to suffice until my Brigade Gunleather custom IWB rig arrives (already on order). The magazine pouch is fine, but for everyday carry I will probably just carry a single extra mag in my existing Uncle Mike’s cordura nylon pouch. A total of 27 rounds of .45ACP should suffice for any social encounter, no real reason to carry TWO extras.

Range report to follow, will be punching holes in paper tomorrow.

Nothing special...



Waiting on Galco to re-up so I can order the same holster for my Kimber Compact II.
