I'd rather see the other side run with this and talk about how the concerns over the new laws aren't an issue because clearly the 2A folks aren't able to get the AG's office to take actions. That might just spur someone into action.

At this point everything is a win. If they take the signs down it's a win - not only for whatever remains of this year's event but for future events. If they don't take the signs down, it's still a win because we can go to the legislature next session with improvements to the law.

A FaceBook acquaintance of mine posted a picture of himself and some other HLSRA board members with Governor Abbott who was visiting. I wonder if he mentioned the signs.

Agreed. IF the AG takes this seriously enough to act on it, there is no real way for the rodeo committee to claim ignorance next year. TexasCajun, you have done us all a great service. What larger venue could be found to send the message down to the smaller operators and cities? While I am disappointed in the number of cases they seem to be acting on, this is potentially a huge one in terms of precedence.

Funny thing is I don't even like the rodeo & will only go if we get free tickets. I think this one just hit me for some reason.

I won't even go with free tickets.

The problem is there is no punishment for the AG to take as much time as they want.

Ofcourse they are going to forget next year. The rodeo is nothing more then a good ol boys club.

I am not disagreeing, just posing the question: If a group is allowed to have amnesia, what is to keep a city from posting a building, getting ten days notice taking the signs down for a day or two and then putting them back up, repeat ad nauseum? Granted, we may simply be dealing with uncharted waters. But lets chart them!

It would be an incredible shame in our supposedly conservative state, with a supposedly conservative AG, that we would have to add penalties for an AG not doing their job. "I'm all about the 2nd amendment until I get into office. Then, meh. Maybe I'll get around to it."

This law was supposedly to "slap the good ol boys upside the head". How many laws doing the same is it going to take?
