I really don't understand this definition. According to your definition only Americans can be conservatives. and that the the rulings by the the Supreme court shoulds only follow the strictist guidelines. What you are defining sounds more like libertarian, or constitutionalist. Most conservatives favor some flexibilty in the constitution when it lines up with their beliefs. (R vs W fer instance)

Case in point, Nick Lampson TxCD-22

And when it comes to him standing up for our individual rights in regard to the 2nd Amendment, sure, we might be able to be comfortable in his position on the issue...

But I am not a one issue constituent though...He might as well start packing now...

I know one politician who still supports the Constitution as intended by the Founders.
Exactly, Fred!

Well said.

Think not in terms of right vs left (a hold-over from late 18th-century Estates General in France), but up versus down, or authority vs liberty. There are plenty of authoritarian Republicans (so-called "conservatives") as well as plenty of authoritarian Democrats (so-called "liberals"). As I see it, they differ only in style and the constituent groups to whom they pander and depend upon for (re)election.

Sadly, the true friends of liberty seem vastly outnumbered by those who wish to use the apparatus of government to coerce others for various agenda.
