Try this type of holster. Won't stop the dust completely but they do help. The catalog for this company has right handed versions so you may want to call if you order from them.

Dust and dirt will affect the reliability of any gun. If you carried concealed, it would keep your gun much cleaner than open carry.

And a good lubricant option for dusty conditions is Mil-Comm's TW25B spray. Regular oils can hold onto fine dust and turn into a gritty paste.
