That is correct. I probably should have specified that. Been going to ranges for so long I figured everyone would know it was for rifle only. I never heard of any place banning FMJ pistol rounds....and pray I don't...LOL.

I wouldn't even want to do that. A shot that bullseyes a 25-yard target will be a couple inches low at 100 and can be up to a foot low at 200. Even if the 25-yard target is the apparent size of a rifle target at 100 yards, it isn't at the right spot along the ballistic path.

I agree. It is only good as a desperate last resort.

It's been a while, but last time I was there they had a statement on the "read and sign" of no lead bullets. I told the guy I might as well pack up and go home as all I had was handloads. He said go ahead and shoot this time. You might want to verify if there is a current lead ban.

This is my home range. I am 5 minutes up the road from it.

Got a membership the same day I purchased my Kimber.

- Knowledgeable and friendly staff
- Nice firearms selection
- Never wait to get a lane (any day)
- Shoot until my ammo runs out

Highly recommended. We need to get together and all go one weekend.

I get the impression there are quite a few of us living in this area. I have lived in Plano for 34 years. I wouldn't mind getting together with some fellow CHL holders/gun owners. I would probably drive the long time CHL holders crazy with questions...LOL. I don't know if Bullet trap is a good place to meet up though. At least not on weekends. Every time I have been there on weekends the place was wall to wall people. The atmosphere seemed hectic. I usually go there on weekdays. Most of the time early morning.

Yeah...The only times I ever have to wait for a lane seem to be Saturday afternoons. I tend to go weekdays too, but in the evening after work, and it's usually relatively quiet.

I prefer to go after work (4-5PM) on weekdays, but usually end up going on weekends.

I am all for meeting up with other forum members at Bullet Trap sometime. I often go on weekdays after work just to avoid people, but go on the weekends as well.

Target Master in Garland off Jupiter is not as nice as the Bullet Trap, but, you can draw from the hip there!Thumbs up on drawing from the hip!
The Garland Pistol Shooting Range off Pleasent Valley is a nice Outdoor pistol and riffle range. $10 life time member ship and $10 to shoot. Thumbs up and the riffle range and Outdoor ventilation!

I have visited all three of these places and I would have to say I agree with the reviews of all three.

Elm Fork on Luna rd in Dallas has a nice pistol range. Both paper and steel positions are available. $15 a day range fees, one target included. Their rifle rnge is only set up for 22 at this point, though.

From a woman's point of view:

They have been very nice to me which is saying a lot as normally women sometimes get the "where is your husband" look at similar type places. I asked about cleaning products for my 1st gun a Glock 19. Instead of just handing me what I needed, the man working there also took me over to the glocks pulled one out of a case and showed me what to do. He spend about 10mins giving me the run down, and it was a busy Sat. I have to say that impressed me a lot.

Also they are always friendly when I come in to get a lane and didn't have a fit though he could of when I walked out from the lane with my gun not in a case to ask for help. It was not loaded and the slide was back. The lever that holds the slide had unsprung from inside the gun. Anyway I didn't put it in the case to go out I was worried that my 1st time ever shooting that gun that something was wrong with it and I didn't think. Anyway he handled it well he just said "oh you need to keep this in a case out here" and gave me one to use. He also showed me how the spring had come undone and how to fix it. He could have ended up making me feel horrible but he didn't and I won't do that again.

One more thing Ladies Night. Normal fees are $17 however on Wed 5-close it's $3 for ladies. I have to say it's nice to see they have an interest in getting more women to go to the range. And a single friend of mine comes a long cause his idea is you never know when a nice single gal will be there

Really good range , like everyone said , great place to go if you wanted to....

Is the place air conditioned?

I was in Plano and met a friend there about a year ago and they didn't have AC. After and hour were were sweating through everything and ready to leave. Nice place but way to hot.
