That law has nothing to do with long guns or weapons that are in the trunk.

That's really odd. The story plainly states that he was arrested and transported to the Fort Bend County Jail. Either the news media is blatantly making things up or the Sheriff's office realized they made a blunder and released him. (are there other possibilities?) I am really curious as to which is correct. Seems like the paper would print a retraction since they even print the fellow's name in the article. I wonder if your friend can get more details without getting himself in a pickle.
