My packet was received almost 2 weeks ago and my status is still "packet mailed to applicant" so their 60 day clock hasn't started for me. Sigh.

Same as mine. I mailed the packet to them on October 28th. It is still showing that today! I get the feeling its going to be an extremely long wait.

Ive been reading some things on this board and you guys seem pretty cool.
I sent my packet in this evening and decided to register. Some things about my application weren't perfect. (I didn't use felt tip pen to sign the photo card) But hopefully whoever opens my packet is having a good day and lets me slide. My instructor also mentioned that the DPS hired a bunch of people to process the recent influx of chl applications. Hopefully this works in our favor. As for wishing away time is concerned, I was going to just forget about it after I sent it, but instead I decided to try and learn as much as possible about what I am getting into while I wait, hence me registering on this forum.

congrats on the movement  ....I sent the email to try and get a PIN late Monday night and got a response back yesterday at 5:21 pm....of course it was the "Your application has not been entered into the system. It is likely going though the processes required before entry. When a completed application is entered you will be sent a confirmation letter with your PIN number. " ...so.... :yawn .... :waiting: I'm guessing the wait will continue without a Pin for this week.

Okay, well, Morgan's post was a big help - USPS' little green certified mail card came back yesterday, so I know DPS got the docs on 7 NOV. Since Morgan's was received 4 NOV, hopefully I'm just a couple days away from status changing to Processing Application!!

October Class Taken
11/5 Packet Mailed to State
11/7 Packet received by State
??? Status changed to Processing Application

I wonder if they do things in batches, actually. I noticed someone else had sent and been received almost 3 weeks before mine was received by the state, but they only went to "processing" 3 days before I did. I don't know what that means.

I did the online application, did you, KingofDirk?

I've wondered that myself...I mean for an application to be "going though the processes required before entry" for a week or two would lead you to think that might be the case...I mean...there's only so much that can happen before it's entered, right? :headscratch

I know pretty much, that it isn't first come first served. I am guessing that there is some grunt collecting all the mail, inspecting it for safety and just tossing it inside some big bin. Then there is someone else that goes through those bins and starts dividing the applications up into another bin maybe by county or whatever. Another person then comes and collects the bins and starts opening up the packets and seperating by however. Someone else goes through them and enters them into the system so that our status can change to 'processing'. Maybe a few days later or so they start processing the applications.
