Many moons ago I was a DPS trooper. During my time we had a trooper who was in hot pursuit of a suspect in (as I recall in Laredo) a boarder town. He got so involved with the pursuit that he lost his perspective and actually chased the suspect across the river into Mexico.

The trooper was arrested, weapons and vehicle were confiscated. His release was arranged before too long but the weapons and vehicle were "appropriated".

The comments above about even an empty shell casing are true. You may not always go to jail but the potential is there if you don't have cash for mordida (bribe) or if you happen to get crossways with the official. You DO NOT want to visit a Mexican jail.

As for military calibers, 9mm and .45, 30-06, 308, 223 and probably 7.62x39 are taken VERY seriously...as is everything else.

New Mexico is MUCH better....and you CAN drink the water.

Yeah, its called $$$...Be prepared to grease even more $$$ if someone else wasn't involved in the original $$$...
