I think the take-away from this case is that if you use deadly force against someone who is punching you, you are likely to have legal problems.

We all understand that bare hands can kill, but this situation seems to be below the threshold where DAs will not charge and grand juries will not indict.

We can never forget that the justifications in Chapter 9 of the Penal Code are defenses to prosecution. If you commit the elements of a criminal offense, you can be called to defend your actions at trial.

Liberty is correct that no one in the system did anything illegal, and there is no remedy for the acquitted defendant but to move on.
