Well, from what I'm reading now, and perceiving,,, using the CHL as I.D. and often might be a good idea. :-)

We are required to "reasonably conceal" and keep the gun(s) concealed.
It is only "(rude display of pistol may constitute breach of peace)"
or knowingly "displays a firearm or other deadly weapon in a public place in a manner calculated to alarm"

But since the AGO quotes a certain Mister Cotton in a portion of his opinion, perhaps there is other insight available on this site. :-)

I actually talk to a lot of people about it. Most are people I attend church with, and they know I'm not the violent type.
I'm not pushy with people, I just give them the facts, and I give it to them as the subject comes up.

ETA: I learned most stuff from Daddy, as he's always carried a gun. He follows everything pretty closely.

1) i probably heard about it first when it was getting voted on and it was on the news all the time but i was a teenager at the time, and not into guns. many years later i get into hunting, and guns and figure why not.

2) I've been carrying for a year now and in the beginning I'd show it as ID and stuff.

now i don't normally come out and say i have a CHL even when the topic of self-defense and the RKBA comes up unless you ask me then i might tell you that i have one but unless your a relative or a CLOSE personal friend I'm not going to tell you if I'm carrying right now. concealed means concealed...although i wouldn't mind open carry in Texas it would certainly make carrying a 1911 in August easier.

Actually there are times I could have used my truck in Sears. Like Christmas shopping!
