I've been there many times over the years and don't even know where the main entrance is. The only reason I have stopped is to visit the sporting goods store and they are not posted. Occasionally, the wife and kids will talk me into walking around the mall but still have never seen a sign.

Guess one of these days I'll have to look for the "main entrance".

I haven't been over there for 5-6 years, but the sign I saw a photo of a non-compliant sign. Will have to do a little more digging to try and find that photo. Either way it is posted valid now and just reconfirms my reason for not going. :mad5

Edited to add: Here is the thread the photo was in, and it was NOT the old verbiage, it is just non-compliant. http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... 49&start=0&" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My memory is getting bad!! LOL

Nothing has changed at Grapevine Mills. Still the same signs that reference Article 4413 instead of Subchapter H, Chapter 411.

So, my opinion - still non-compliant. Still not personally willing to challenge it. I just shop elsewhere.

If you've never eaten at the Rain Forest Cafe-let me spare you the agony.. Most people only go there ONCE. Talk about crap food. Here is how you can replicate RFC food at home.. Go to grocery store, buy cheapest frozen chicken dinner you can find. Come home, open dinner, remove chicken and throw 2 pieces down on hard tiled floor. Now run towards chicken getting up good speed, now jump on chicken pieces and skid across room. Now flip the chicken over, and do the same repeatedly until chicken is "blackened" on both sides.. Now throw said pieces of chicken into a roaring fire.. Right on the flames/charcoal/wood-no rack needed. Now after 2 minutes pull chicken from flames. You'll know it's done when it's crispy-crunchy black on the outside and still frozen solid on the inside.. If you break a tooth biting into it-you have perfectly duplicated the slop they serve at RFC.

I can understand why they don't want guns in that place.. They have a very real fear that someone would shoot the person masquerading as a chef.. And they'd be right!

Rain Forest cafe doesn't restrict CHL holders from bringing in while carrying. The Mall does.

I ran over and looked at the 6 "official mall entrance" signs. They're still this sign, which I found a pic of in a previous thread:

It's non compliant but the scantest of margin. I'm sure that you'd be in a "beat the charges" situation here, but it sounds like you wouldn't beat the ride with the Grapevine cops.

Morgan,

So they were non-compliant after all. That was what I remembered and had been told. Like I said, I stay away from there.

Isn't the parking lot posted also? Can't remember.

I believe if you ignored the sign and was caught, you would lose the battle. It might be a little off but it does reference 30.06, it is 1 inch letters and it is in both english and spanish. I would not enter this building and challenge the prosecution. I just boycott the mall and go where they want my business. As a CHL, you know their intention and they did post a 30.06 sign, not just a gunbuster sign.

We will not have to worry about it for long, the mall is about to go broke. They lose stores every week and it is a ghost town during the week. My wife continues to shop there because of convenience, she does not believe in my boycott system.

Well, I wear the pants in my family [because she says I can].

I live in Grapevine, and I don't shop at Grapevine Mills Mall. I was actually asked to leave the premises there when I was taking pictures of their signs. The Rain Forest Cafe entrance is internal, no way to go there without using one of the main mall or anchor store entrances.

I've never seen 30.06 or gun buster signs in the parking lots, but I'll drive through on the way home from work tonight and see...will report back here this evening or in the morning.

I get that a lot! That is actually my picture here in the thread. I make a point to take pictures of 30.06 signs, especially non-compliant types. For educational purposes only, of course. But, I get invited to leave frequently.

So, why do these people have a problem with you taking pictures of their signs? They put them up... aren't they proud of them?
