Hey, I got an idea! Why don't we start a thread or two about the ammo shortage?

There's no "ammo shortage" in the country. It's in the gun safes. closets, garages, and sheds of at least 48% of the population old enough to buy it. With more stored under the beds of many of those who are not. ;-)

Problem is that the shortage is real for those of us who don't have the time to hunt it down.

Don't worry, Liberty. The hoarders will share with their ammo-less brethren when the time comes; or at least, sell it to their brethren at the hoarder's cost. Don't you think?

At the rate it is being "stored", I'm beginning to wonder if certain homes may exceed the capacity of the earth's crust to support them. Houses could begin to disappear overnight, leaving only sink-holes where they used to stand.

In all seriousness, I'd love to know how many billions of rounds have been purchased in the last few months. I haven't seen any on the shelves at my local Wal*Mart in at least four months.

Just to let you know, yes Academy does carry 200rd boxes of Remington UMC, but they started carrying Federal Black box 200rd too. They're selling them for $94 a box.

A bunch of old white guys cleaned the ammo shelves. Wish I bought an 18 wheeler load of ammo two years ago instead of this Citigroup stock.

Old white guys??? I have seen old black guys buying guns and ammo too. As a matter of fact, I have seen more black guys in the gun stores the past 6 months than I have in the 20 years previous to this all added together. Most of the ammo hogs I am observing...of which I proudly claim membership status...are middle age white guys. most old guys are not stupid enough to fall for this temporary ignorance and get taken to the cleaners on ammo. Age does that for you......makes you wiser.

One issue I am finding interesting is that every....and I mean every...ammo transaction of large quantity that I have witnessed, is being paid for with credit cards. Yeah...I know there are exceptions...but stock piling over priced ammo would be a little harder for most folks if they had to pay for it out of their monthly budgets.

I don't think this panic is relegated to any one segment. That is why it is so dramatic. Blacks...whites...hispanics...asians....males...females..old...young.....all are worried about premier Obama and the rest of his socialist regime. Panic creates more panic and it just keeps feeding on itself. Clerks at these stores are also creating panic with some of their bull butter stories. I have listened to idiots working gun stores tell people there is already a 500% tax on ammo enacted and due to start later in the year. It makes me want to pinch off their heads and spit down their necks. I have made a habit lately out of openly disputing them right in front of their customers. This silliness is beginning to work on my last nerve.
