Just finished my class today. Will be dropping my packet off at the post office first thing tomorrow morning.

On a side note you don't get extra credit for hitting a moving target while qualifying (darn wind messing up my perfect score).

Well, the wait begins. I completed my CHL class on Saturday and will be mailing my packet today!!
Thanks for setting up the June thread bro. Now I can throw my hat in the ring. Just sent off packages for myself, my wife and my son! We made it a family affair! We took our class just this last Saturday (6-6-09) from none other than Charles Cotton himself! I learned SO much in his class that my head is full and overflowing! Can't wait to take some tactical shooting classes from him. THANKS CHARLES!!!! :coolgleamA:

Wow!! Congrats on getting the whole family involved!
I haven't got my wife convinced to get her CHL. I don't think she had even ever seen a handgun before we got married. I have taught her a little about them and some safety and she mentioned the other day that he would like to go to the range with me! Pretty excited about that.
Good luck and hope your wait isn't too long! :tiphat:

Took the course Jan 10th 09 and just mailed off the packet today (wife paid for the class but I had to save up for the DPS fee). Of course I checked it like 5 times over before actually sealing the envelope (like the ink was going to magically disappear or something after each time I checked).

Looks like we will all be getting to know each other very well in here!

I looked in the mailbox the other day and had an envelope from DPS in there. First thought was, my pin already!!! But.......I had forgotten I changed the address on my Driver's license about 6 weeks before. It had been so long I had totally forgotten about it! :smilelol5:

I dropped off my renewal packet today at DPS in Austin.
I didn't realize it was taking so long to process. My current license expires next month. Based on reports here it looks like I am going to be without a CHL for a little while.

This is my second renewal. The first only took 2 weeks to process and arrive after hand delivering the packet. Maybe I'll get lucky again...

Well shoot. I mailed my packet on the 9th, 10 days later it still shows "packet mailed to applicant". I live in Round Rock, it should have been there within a day or two. I knew I should have hand delivered the dang thing! :banghead:

That's why I sent mine "Certified". Then, I got my receipt saying they received it the day after I mailed.
However, it has been taking an average of 44 days for the "status" to change from "Packet Mailed" to "In Process".

Please remember: the USPS is run by the government and it is a bigger and less efficient government than that of TX. And, you see how well TX does on processing? How well do you suppose the USPS delivers mail???

I mailed mine the 1st, they received the 2nd and it still shows: "Packet Mailed to Applicant". Hell, they even sent another packet to my house, but to some other named person!! I've waited 12 days to get that answer via email.

The system SUCKS! (JMTCW).

Waiting is to be expected. Waiting on an inefficient, bureaucratic and broken system
happens because we accept it. :totap:

Your status will remain as "Packet mailed to applicant" until they start processing your application. Reading the different threads here, I'm seeing that it takes 4-6 weeks for the status to change to "Processing application". It'll happen. Doesn't make the waiting any easier though....... :totap:

I wouldn't call it great big news, but I guess it's a step in the right direction. I noticed that my check was cashed on June 19th. I know I"m still a long ways from plastic or even a "processing application" status, but it's something I guess.
