I'm not sure that it is. My understanding is on your property (or property you control), there is no requirement for concealing, ie. you can open carry in your home.
It wasn't his home.
In fact, it wasn't my friends' home either. Usually when they are back in TX someone will let them stay in a home that is vacant for one reason or another (in this case the couple who normally lives there was on an extended vacation). So this was not my home, nor was it their home. I think technically this is not legal to unconceal under these circumstances. Actually I don't think it's legal to unconceal pretty much anywhere other than your own home, your vehicle, or place you are using as your home, unless you are justified in the use of force but we do it all the time anyway like in a public restroom or whatever. Gray area, right?

Thanks, Charles. I thought it was a good story. In fact I think if more people who are "not the type" were introduced to the idea of guns by someone in their familiar social circle (in other words, of their "type"), then we'd have a lot more rational gun-owners and much lower incidence of effective anti-gun policies.

It's too easy for people to associate guns with bad guys, cops, hunters, and extremists. But once you can show them that regular people (regular by their own definition) also can have guns without turning into extremists or nuts, then it changes the whole argument.

I get that "You're not the type" thing a lot. Like a decently dressed, clean shaven guy wouldn't be packing heat? :tiphat:
